Nancy's Writing Practice 03

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Telephones and email have made communication between people less personal. Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.

In this era of science and technology explosion, we’ve changed the life style a lot from before. People tends to relying on telephone and email instead of face to face communication, they forgotten how to spend and enjoy the time being with family and friends since they get used to making a short phone call. Although telephones bring so much convenience to contemporary people help they saving the time, however, we lost the opportunity of getting along with intimated friends. According to above reasons, I agree that telephones and email have made communication between people less personal.

First of all, internet has already replaced the role of classical letter, people seldom wrote a letter by hand since we could easily type a short email or type a message by cell phone. To me, I don’t like to contact people by email, except the unfamiliar friends. Using email communication or even chatting on msn with my family and good friends? It is never happened to me! I love spending the time face to face with my friends, in this way I could see their expression on the face or even give a hug to them. In my case, internet communication is just for the work or discussion assignment from school.

Furthermore, since people getting used to communicate by telephone, they are being cold and the relationship getting unimportant. It’s so sad to see that people sending the same “happy new year” messages by cell phone to all of friends, but they don’t even chatting for a minute over the year. Take me for example, I have a friend she has many friends on internet, sometime she seems really busy at it. But when it comes to the virtual world, she doesn’t even have a friend to hanging out with her. In the class she almost couldn’t give a speech because she is afraid of speaking in front of so many people. I think people who using internet and telephone frequently would getting lazy with keep the real relationship, that’s why nowadays people are so lonely and emotionless.

To sum up, although the new technology accompanies convenience of life, people forgot how to express their real emotion when it’s comes to face to face communication, just like we could said “I love you” to parents on the phone easily but it’s really hard to say it in front of them. Therefore, I truly believe telephone and email have made communication between people less personal.

Nancy, I think you improve the grammatical problems a lot this time.
Also, I appreciate your idea in which you indicate the side effect with a real event in the third paragraph.

But here is the question that you arouse a question by yourself in paragraph two, and I doubt whether it's a grammatical sentence or not in writing article even though we'll say that in oral.

Dear Nancy:
The writing is well-organized and clear. Yet, you have some grammaticle problems. Be careful about the tense and the verbs in a sentence and you will be fine! :)
